THE ROOKIE COOK SERIES #2 : INDIAN BANANA CURRY

We’ve all eaten Bananas in their raw form, in ice-cream sundaes, shakes, smoothies and even cakes. But have you tried to cook it like vegetables are cooked in curries ? If not, you’ll probably want to read further.

This is probably the easiest and least time consuming Indian Curry we’ve seen. Novice cooks can rejoice in the simplicity of this dish. The result is a mushy, sweet, tangy and spicy curry that’s like a party in your mouth.

We haven’t mentioned any specific quantities in this recipe because you can tweak it according to your own taste; play it by ear.

  • Chop up some bananas and mix it with a Spice Mix containing Salt, Turmeric powder, Red Chilli powder, Garam Masala, Coriander powder and Dry Mango powder.
  • In a pan heat Oil and add Cumin Seeds. Allow them to crackle.
  • Add in the bananas that have been soaking up the spices and mix well. Let them cook for about a minute on a low flame.
  • Mix in a wee bit of sugar and a few drops of lemon juice. Give it a toss and serve immediately.
